| Description: | BACKGROUND Made for Ladies, Wine & Design’s International Women’s Day 2020 celebrations, this poster ruminates on women’s place in literature. Featuring a particularly heartbreaking quote by Virginia Woolf, it brings forth the fact that history is littered with women poets and writers who were unable to realise their potential because of the patriarchal setup of society. ABOUT THE DESIGN The brief was that an ‘equal to’ sign be incorporated somehow. Here, it was used as the woman’s body inside which a poet’s heart is ‘caught and tangled’. The typography was made staccato, and the colour palette was kept subdued. ABOUT THE PRINT & PRODUCTION The poster was screen-printed. The exact shade of blue paper stock (by Keaycolour) was sourced, on which the other specially-mixed inks were hand-pulled in multiple layers. |
