Description: Bombay International School approached us to design a signage system that would work with their newly introduced project based learning model. Students would now move from room to room; a sea change from the way they used and navigated spaces before.
A school that was originally a residential heritage building, our challenges were many.
We needed to find a solution that allowed for fixed and flexible identification for rooms, eased navigation within the atypical floor plans and enhancing the user experience for students, staff and visitors. We also needed the signage approach to be sustainable and reflect the community voice in equal measure
The idea of using the traditional Masonite clipboard was key to our design solution. It was changeable and sustainable, allowing us the functionality we needed, and provided a language for a signage system that maintained and reflected the school, sense of place and culture.
