Description: How do you get people to pay attention to a topic like rug-making on a platform like Instagram that is populated with low attention spans? This was the question we were faced with when Tissage Rugs asked us to conceptualize their new campaign which aimed to bring the art and the story of hand-knotted rugs to life. The answer was the ‘Chroma People.’

Set in a mythical world where colour was once neglected, 'Chroma People' explores the history of a tribe that discovered their purpose in the reverence of colour.

To truly bring this campaign to life, we chose documentary-style photography to authentically capture ‘a day in the life of the Chroma People’, showcased through the symbolism of 4 colours–green, yellow, red and blue. The lighting was tailored for each colour to represent various times of day, from dawn to dusk.

The sets were custom built and played into the symbolism of each colour, while the props were made using elements such as wool, cotton and yarn–that feature in the rug-making process.

All of this resulted in a carefully crafted digital rollout that took viewers on a journey of rug-making in the most artistic way possible.
