Description:	First unveiled in 2016 in La Mer, Dubai, the move to the Dubai Edition Hotel is characterised by an assemblage of the old and the new–preserving the hospitality experience of the original while enhancing the drama and delight one expects from the brand. The design aims to capture the vibrancy of Indian culture without being cliched or kitschy. Familiar spatial markers carry forward the memory of the original, and dynamic new insertions celebrate its new avatar. Three distinct areas define the dining experiences. The first, an experiential dining area where patrons can engage with the open kitchen. It leads into a secondary dining area anchored by the bar with its familiar stained-glass elephant, transported from its former location. Finally, alfresco seating in intimate pockets on the balcony offers expansive views of the cityscape. Very few new items were introduced. Elements such as the lighting, bar backdrop and furniture, were polished, mended, and reupholstered. Sheer curtains and flooring left behind by previous occupants of the site were repurposed, creating a fresh relationship with the furniture, while the new elements introduced celebrate the details and playfulness of the first restaurant—the overall result being a space that feels familiar yet exciting.
