Description: The Timber Residence champions sustainability with the use of an underrecognized material called mass timber. Built using prefabricated portal frames in Glulam (a form of mass timber), the home sets a new precedent for sustainable design in India by optimising construction and driving innovation.
Constructed using prefabricated glulam portal frames, the residence optimises construction efficiency and innovation. The eleven-frame superstructure defines the home's central volume, enabling precise control over its consumption, thereby ensuring sustainable construction.
Nestled on a steep slope overlooking the Chapora River, the home's foundation minimises disruption to the natural landscape. The orientation of the house is carefully considered to minimise heat gain, ensuring optimal energy efficiency. A significant portion of the site is dedicated to kitchen gardens, promoting self-sufficiency and reducing reliance on external resources. The home's design merges unconventional materials with cutting-edge technology, creating a minimalist yet progressive living environment.
