Description:	Flames of the Forest is a limited edition festive collection for the luxury chocolaterie Ether Atelier. In its illustration lead design we explore the wilderness of indigenous biota, and set it all ablaze with subtle manipulations of colour* and the employment of red metallic foiled printed, which incidentally is an Ether house code. The project whilst aesthetic, was also deeply academic in the amount of research that went into identifying and cataloging over 25 species of plants and animals indigenous to the mythical Indian wild-forest of old. These we then vectorised onto several perspective-layers of detailed illustration to create a three dimensional and optically complex simulation of all the wild things lit by the festive sky. The design thinking behind this collection is to unpack the idea of layering and dimensionality. The design forces you to look, not just at the filled in spaces - but the delicate details concealed in the dark in-betweens. We went looking for non-linear expressions of a forest ablaze, and found that it was not fire that we needed to add but room for its light to shine. *notice the reds and how they play with the Indian yellow 'burning' effect on the paper cut edges
