| Description: | Maya Pistola Agavepura’s Phoenix Añejo An unfortunate accident that took a new form, like a mighty phoenix rising from the ashes. We worked with Passcode Hospitality to create the brand identity, packaging, and website design for their 100% Agave Spirit brand, Maya Pistola Agavepura. The identity was centred on Mayahuel, the Goddess of Agave. Through the illustrated graphic novel of The Legend of Maya Pistola, we established how Wild Agave Americana made its way from Mexico to India’s Deccan Plateau. However, on Christmas Eve of 2021, tragedy struck. The brand’s rickhouse caught fire, exposing all the ageing barrels to a blazing inferno. The micro-batch Añejo, aged for 20 months in Virgin American White Oak, is all that was salvaged. A new opportunity sparked, calling for a new avatar – the Phoenix Añejo. We devised the storyline, identity, and packaging for this limited-edition offering of only 1,800 bottles that launched in January 2023. Our illustrations featured a phoenix rising behind Maya that could be seen through the front of the clear glass bottle. Black and gold hues tell the story of what was once lost but never forgotten – a depiction of the few hero bottles that survived. |
