| Description: | The Architects saw the opportunity in Transforming a forty-year run down two-bedroom residential apartment into a Design studio. The studio was confronted with the context of the existing Columns, beams, plumbing and electrical which were suited only for a residential apartment. The space planning integrated all these factors to create an “open plan” around a central core forming the studio pantry and Washroom which was flanked by the conference room, open cabin and studio workspaces. Hierarchy of all these spaces was achieved though planning and a layout which would seamless blend practicality and aesthetics to make the space as creative as possible. The layout prioritizes adaptability, seamlessly transitioning between private and collaborative spaces. Precut black basalt stone formed the flooring and raw atmosphere of the space while concrete finished walls complement the black satin finished floor of the studio. The old wooden windows were carefully restored blending a historic charm to the contemporary aesthetic. The design is sensitive to the future collaborators with the space which can be in form of art, objects, people, loose furniture, cats. |
