Description: | Signage Design for an 84 acres University campus in Bangalore. A culture rooted in constitutional values, that celebrates the local and traditional. Inspired by the core value of harmony, we designed a signage system that pays homage to the diversity of crafts in Karnataka. Each academic block represents a different craft form – rosewood inlay, Lambani embroidery, hase chittara, kolam, stone sculpture, bidri, and more. We worked with five crafts communities in Karnataka to create pieces for the signage. This exchange with the artisans gave us a deeper insight into the nuances of each craft, which inspired us develop motifs as a part of the larger design system for the campus. The different crafts give each space within the campus their own distinct visual identity, making it easy to identify and navigate within the different spaces. |
