Designed with sustainability at its core, the building incorporates passive cooling strategies, natural ventilation, and extensive daylighting, reducing energy consumption by 50% compared to industry standards. The central circulation spine flares out to direct prevailing winds through Venturi effect, naturally ventilating the circulation areas, while the radiant cooling system, one of the largest in the world, keeps the interiors cool. Landscaped courtyards and open workspaces provide a healthy environment for the diamond community. The project represents a unique example of community-driven development. Built as a cooperative, the bourse reflects the specific needs and working style of Surat's diamond traders. It has not only revitalised the local diamond industry but also stimulated broader social and economic growth in the region. The creation of new social infrastructure and employment opportunities demonstrates the potential for architecture to drive positive change and enhance the quality of life for a community.
