Description: | Effection began as a modest design experiment, exploring its deeper purpose. It soon evolved into a multisensory experience transcending art, technology, architecture and wellness, highlighting the dynamic interconnections between heart, breath and emotions. The structure is a spiral chamber made of curved plywood with 4500 LEDs covered by a polyurethane translucent fabric. This design creates a soft, suffused glow—an ethereal world devoid of corners and shadows—evoking the Ganzfeld effect, a state of sensory deprivation. The chamber envelops participants in a luminous colored haze, fostering a sense of intimacy and probing internal awareness. A custom biofeedback program translates heart rhythms into a play of color gradients and a dynamic soundscape; the space pulsates with your biology, reflecting your inner state in real time and guiding you on a journey towards coherence. Within this sculpted symphony, the interplay of elements fosters a captivating immersion, allowing participants to activate the art and therefore become the art. Effection is a testament to the power of design and science, inviting a journey of self-discovery unlocked by the transformative power of art. Inspired by HeartMath’s research, this postgraduate thesis by Hansika Mangwani was showcased at The Method Gallery, Mumbai, and India Art Fair 2024. |
